Add Ferdinand the bull to the list of challenges faced by firefighters battling a wildfire north of Los Angeles.

Firefighters working to increase containment lines around the Lake Fire near Lake Hughes Friday scrambled for safety as they were chased down a hill by the longhorn. No injuries were reported in the bizarre incident captured on camera from inside a fire engine.

“Luckily no one was injured and #Ferdinand went about his day,” the Ventura County Fire Department tweeted.

Our nephew, currently a paramedic, has been dreaming of becoming a firefighter since he was a kid. With Ferdinand, now I understand why. Trouble is, even though he hasn't been a kid for many years, he's still about the size of an average 7th grader, which has worked against him in his career quest. So, he's diligently slogging his way thru an alternate, but somewhat parallel career path in his effort to get into the world of firefighting thru the side door. He loves mesquite grilled steaks.

BTW, we're grilling & roasting a few pounds of Ferdinand's cousin for dinner tonight, since he was on super-sale at our local market; only $5.99/lb for some impressive rib eye. Twenty buck's worth accidentally jumped into my cart as I pushed it by the butcher counter yesterday afternoon.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

They've been running Emergency on one of the rerun channels. The gimmick is the same as the old Dragnet shows -- the public are generally stupid and irresponsible. The problem with the show is that the EMTs are also kind of inept in things like social awareness. The writers love to write in people with attitude problems, particularly any interns.

Looks more like a steer to me . Wasn't charging either just curious .

While generally might be a bit of a stretch, it's not a huge one.

A very large segment of people that EMS personal come in contact with are frequently irresponsible, and if not already so, can become stupid very quickly when not getting what they want, rather than what they need or are actually entitled to.

And surprise - writers have their own agendas. These are TV shows and not documentaries (which aren't without their own agendas) so sure, accuracy and real life circumstance often to out the window for the sake of 'the art'.

So some TV shows that weren't so great then, don't hold up over time.

Still, they can be fun.

Emergency wasn't my favorite show by half.

But one funny bit was the team responding to a rock show (not a concert) where a guitarist is electrocuted by his kit.

While the victim is being hit with the paddles, the bass player, watching the reaction says 'Heyyyy maaaannn, caannn IIIII be nexxxxt?' Bass players.

Very contrived, but it really cracked me up.
