the public are generally stupid and irresponsible.
While generally might be a bit of a stretch, it's not a huge one.
A very large segment of people that EMS personal come in contact with are frequently irresponsible, and if not already so, can become stupid very quickly when not getting what they want, rather than what they need or are actually entitled to.
And surprise - writers have their own agendas. These are TV shows and not documentaries (which aren't without their own agendas) so sure, accuracy and real life circumstance often to out the window for the sake of 'the art'.
So some TV shows that weren't so great then, don't hold up over time.
Still, they can be fun.
Emergency wasn't my favorite show by half.
But one funny bit was the team responding to a rock show (not a concert) where a guitarist is electrocuted by his kit.
While the victim is being hit with the paddles, the bass player, watching the reaction says 'Heyyyy maaaannn, caannn IIIII be nexxxxt?' Bass players.
Very contrived, but it really cracked me up.
