What do you think? My stylist uses a 'number 4' for my regular cut...

TIA.

I use a Wahl, not that particular model though. Mine is about 15 years old and still going strong. I use the number 3.

Made in USA, 8' cord, decent warranty and nice storage case too thumbs up
I wouldn't put much faith in the scissors. Plan on throwing it in the junk drawer.

I just talked to a friend who went from a $30 Wahl to a $90 Wahl and said there was a world of difference. He recommended saving up and buying one around $100.

The kit I purchased from Costco last year cost about $60, which probably translates to near $100 retail. I can tell you that the clipper in the kit I bought is every bit the equal of any clipper I've ever encountered in a professional shop.

This one is a $60 model, so is it more like the $90 or the $30?!

Seriously, though. Wahl is a trusted brand. Corded is always going to be cheaper than cordless. Corded theoretically will also give you more power, and you may need that depending on the thickness of the hair. My whole family was hurting for hair cuts 5-6 weeks ago so I bit the bullet and got these, as they were the only cordless in stock:

I gotta say. It is wonderful to use these. Quiet, no cord fuss. The attachments go on a and come off pretty easily. However, I would say that Wahl quality and dependability is probably better than these, but for the $, it was worth getting these overseas trimmers. It even came with a second battery for the times you are using it heavily. The only issue was that there was no carrying bag/case. I am using an old cigar box from my dad.

He said his was a "Wahl Senior. From looking around, I'm guessing the ~$100 ones are considerably better than the $60 one. There seems to be other lines, also.

I bought a $30 Wahl circa 20 years ago, and it's still going strong. It probably doesn't matter which one you get, as long as it's corded. If I were to make a recommendation, I'd go with the color-coded one, as it's useful to help identify the various guards.

$30 bought a lot more quality 20 years ago than it does today.

So how hard is it to get decent results from cutting someone’s hair anyway? I’d like to ask my wife to cut mine, but I don’t want to look like a bozo afterwards. I guess I could always tell people I’m self-quarantining for a few weeks and then go back to my barber on hands and knees.

It looks to be a decent value for the money.

For home use, it should be fine.

But how long it'll last outside of warranty is a mystery to me.

People talk about a product they have that's lasted 10, 30, 85yrs as though it's relevant.

Today's products aren't 'built like they used to', so manage expectations.

You can always return these for an upgrade.

Bezos won't mind.

More most of us, me in particular, our hair will grow back.

And a COVID Cut is and will be pretty much the way of life for a good while, so most everybody will understand, unless maybe you sneeze or drop the clippers on your head.

Barbershops and salons are still shut down in CA, and in a city next to me the local PD has shut down a salon operating on the sly.

<knock knock> Pssst. Estelle sent me?

I just cut my hair with scissors, fingers, and a comb, then used some 50yo Wahl/Wahl knockoff (?) clippers to block the back.

Next is working on a short taper for the back, instead of blocking it.

Just take a little bit off at a time.

I practiced moving my hand/scissors/clippers in the mirror because sometimes looking at a mirror with a mirror can get tricky.

A good barber is getting very hard to find around here.

It may never happen for me, and Super Cuts is a poor substitute on a good day.

I paid $20 for my Wahl 25 years ago. Still going strong although I have little hair to cut. I use the #1 for my scalp and the #1/2 for my beard. I go about three weeks between trims. My wife blocks the back for me, otherwise it would be a mess.

I just bought this one at Amazon. It's cordless, has a 5 hour run time between charges and has accessories to trim beard, nose hair and body hair. Gave myself a haircut the other day and was happily surprised at how much better it did than my old corded hair clipper.
