‘ Justin Townes Earle, the singer-songwriter known for his mix of old-timey roots music and modern-day Americana, has died at age 38. A rep for Earle’s label New West Records confirmed the musician’s death to Rolling Stone, though a cause of death was not immediately revealed.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we inform you of the passing of our son, husband, father and friend Justin,” a post on Earle’s Instagram page read. “So many of you have relied on his music and lyrics over the years and we hope that his music will continue to guide you on your journeys. You will be missed dearly Justin. ‘

a shame to lose this gifted singer/songwriter so young. he was excellent the several times we saw him.

I'm in shock at this news, like all of his fans. I've seen him in concert about a half dozen times over the years. Not long ago i watched an interview while he was drinking something and obviously sloused. I thought at the time it did not bode well since he's been so open about his addiction and being in rehab.

A lot of demons in that family tree. He was a great talent. Sad news. I have seen him a couple of times and have seen his Dad at least 20 times!

I'm really sad about this, although I did write that last night. it's of the nature where we lost someone who had a lot to say and said it in a way that I thoroughly enjoyed. and he was a hell of a guitar player to boot.

I count myself as a fan, having splurged a few years ago on some LPs and a pair of concert tickets. As with the best artists, you get a sense of what the person represents to the craft in addition to the recordings or performances. He will be missed.
