blocking traffic on home network

I've been using opendns to monitor and block traffic on my home network but I'm having trouble figuring out how to block Discord and Google Hangouts. Is there another product that would give me better control?

Ukulele music I couldn't find anywhere else.
I’ve added some recipes and spiritual thoughts as well.

Discord is decentralized. Anyone can start a public server. You can block the site, but not all of the traffic. It uses port 443 for some purposes, but random ports for others.

Still, you can knock off a lot of the traffic by blocking their domains:
discordapp.com
discord.com
discord.co
discord.gg
dis.gd

For Hangouts, block hangouts.google.com and chat.google.com. I have seen some pro firewalls that just block these.

Some Googling also turns up these addresses, but I'm a little concerned that they may indiscriminately block more than just Hangouts :
client-channel.google.com
clients6.google.com
clients4.google.com
talkgadget.google.com
apis.google.com
chatenabled.mail.google.com
