What seemed to be a good idea at the time for you but ended up in regret in hindsight?

Adding several varieties of beans to the chili I ate before a series of work meetings seemed to be a good idea at the time.

Mr. Lahey: A lot of people, don’t know how to drink. They drink against the grain of the liquor. And when you drink against the grain of the liquor? You lose.

Randy: What the @#$%& are you talking about?

I guess we can stick to food and digestion.

Eating that whole ghost pepper by itself at 10am yesterday. It tasted great... but my stomach was not pleased. That almost never happens!

Getting the 4 new tires we needed - we got 2 different upgrades we didn’t agree to that totaled $140, and they broke part of the tire pressure monitoring system yet say "these things only last 10 years". Um, happened in your custody, and the other 4 are fine. We also left it for 25 hours and it STILL wasn’t ready, so they messed up our planned pickup day and the next, too. Working on a partial refund, but they are not interested in giving much, and I think they still think we’re paying for the sensor.

The answer to this is always going to be selling my AAPL stock (for a loss) in 2002 b/c it was dropping, and I needed to emergently free up some cash.

Driving my 1973 Beetle in the dark to go get gas, just because I was bored.

Result: Inferno, and the resulting need to bum rides from friends and family for a few months.

You could end the meetings in a dramatic fashion.

Which Fiat? My first car was a 1973 Fiat 124 Spyder that I loved, until it was stolen.

I was making butternut squash soup which called for some peppers. I had never cooked with peppers before and left the seeds in. We called it Thai butternut soup. It was inedible hot.

One 100 degree plus day, I was going to town and I forgot to dry my favorite socks. I thought: I'll just wear them wet and they will keep me cool. Bad idea.

When I was a kid, I foolishly drank a 16 oz glass of prune juice. You can imagine the rest of the story...

As a college student, I think I was a rising Sophomore and therefore very stupid, I ordered a spicy dish in a Chinese restaurant that contained those small pickled peppers. I had never seen them before, not having had too much in the way of Chinese food prior to that and made the mistake of chewing and eating them. The inner epithelial layer of skin in my mouth was literally chemically burned away, a process that occurred over 2-3 days and was not helped by drinking water or milk, and I now don't have the same level of sensitivity to spicy foods I once did.
