I had the option to go in to the retail counter or just pick it up using some guidance with my iPhones. not sure how these work, did they upgrade the Uhauls to allow some sort of remote unlock?

OK, so lift the hood. Then connect the blue wire to the green wire. And short across the starter solenoid with a screwdriver. Ok, you're good !

Hope they cleaned it well after the previous customer.

I did this a couple of weeks ago. They make you pose for a selfie picture on the UHaul app so a remote rep can compare your face to your drivers license. Pretty painless procedure though.

It's not a new feature. I tried to use it a couple of years ago, but it didn't work back then and I ended up going to the counter anyway. I think they had already rented out the unit I was supposed to get, which broke the "contactless pickup" and they had to set up a whole new reservation.

Hopefully, it's working better now!

Tried it a month ago, sadly, I found it a PITA.

Take a selfie, take photos of your DL, walk the lot to find your truck... after you find truck at the end of the lot... walk all the way back to building to get key. ugh.

Next time I just did normal online reservation and walked in -- took 3 minutes and the van was waiting for me when I walked out the door. 100X easier.

Yeah, it probably helped that I was renting from a tiny lot in rural GA (and that it was pouring rain).
