Crossover: Tantalizingly close to being useful!

Just downloaded and installed the trial version of CrossOver....

Installed easily on my MacBook, despite woefully inadequate RAM (I just finished placing an order with OWC for 1gig RAM... can't afford two gigs yet, but HAD to have more than the 512 I have!).

I installed a cheap architechtural CAD program I've had for a while on my seldom used XP machine.

Crossover is quite easy to install, and get to install the PC program.

The down side is that I'm not getting screen re-draws... (so I can't tell when a dialog comes up, or a button is pushed, or a line is drawn, etc).
I'm blaming my lack of RAM so far...

Suffice to say, right now, I'm very enthused at the prospect of being able to run SOME PC programs I might need to play with WITHOUT needing either of the options that require a copy of Windows first.... (Bootcamp, Paralells).

Now to wait for more RAM to arrive, and hope that it's my lack of RAM rather than CrossOver causing the trouble...

I'm with you there Paul. I need to run a very few windows programs, and don't relish the thought of having to deal with a full blown windows installation and all it's problems just to support them. Of course, I don't yet have an intelmac so the point is moot for the moment.

A refurb Core Duo 1.83ghz Macbook called my name with JUST the right tone... and I had to buy one..

Of course, that's mostly because my work-supplied iBook G3 800 devoured it's FOURTH video board...

WELL worth it... (even though the $$$ smarted a bit at first...)
