This is on the table of a rented beach house. Anybody know what it is or is for?

Yup, that's to block birds. Weird that it'd be on a table, but maybe they've had problems with gulls and other birds trying to snatch stuff off the table... gulls be daring!

Yup. A pidgeon-poker.

Is that attached to the table or just placed there as if it was found on the ground and someone just picked it up? Look up at the house to see if you can spot others, they're usually placed in the roof overhang areas or other small spaces where birds want to hang out, the spikes take up space making it difficult for the birds occupy.

Putting it on a table like that wouldn't be very effective at keeping birds away, so I'm assuming it fell off the house.
