Taco shop's wifi saves the day after my Comcrap connection went down

Nothing like scrambling mid-videoconference and driving to a local taco shop to use their wifi. Not only is the food delicious but I can sit in my car which is right next to the building and finish my work.

why not just tether to your phone in those instances?

I don't think my data cap could withstand multiple hours long meetings..

Starlink cannot get here fast enough....
It's not the perfectly internet for those served by Cable, but it IS the perfect service with which to bludgeon certain providers into providing customer service and expanding their services.

I like the plan I am on, I save a bunch of money and I am not hooked to my phone as much. Didn't ever expect to rely on video conferencing though. Maybe I will adjust but it is a great excuse to get some good food while at the taco shop.

EVERYBODY has a "cap" on their data, even with a so called "Unlimited" plans. Rather than cut you off completely, your data connection will be "throttled" to a MUCH slower speed (which often will NOT support video streaming). Once you have reached the carrier's "secret cutoff" point. Streaming video WILL get you to that cutoff point rather quickly. As an RVer, although many parks' WiFi is getting better, the WiFi experience still leaves a lot to be desired. That's why I have MULTIPLE smartphones with MULTIPLE carriers. Macs make it relatively easy to aggregate multiple internet sources onto my MBP which allow me to continue online in places that, on WiFi alone, would not be possible. Apple operates under the misconception that EVERYBODY has affordable, unlimited, high speed broadband internet which, for MANY people, just is NOT the case. sad smiley. angry villagers smiley
