oh man, don't miss it. More brilliance from Guy Richie.
Hugh Grant finally plays a great part he was born to.
I suggest a glass of bourbon with it.

I LOVED this film, actually saw it twice in the theater, back in the day when we could still go to the theater

More brilliance from Guy Richie.

I think Ritchie just lucks out on casting often enough that his actors usually carry it home for him.

dunno mate. I think his scripts and shooting are pretty smart and clever.
There must be a reason why some of them better knowns say yes. Can't just be another paycheck for some of them.

I can't stand Hugh Grant, but he really got this. Michelle Dockery really got the cockney tough.

As much as I like the work of his "contemporaries" Scorsese and Tarantino, they've both turned out some indulgent losers.
I've found Guy Ritchie seeks to entertain first.

But to each their own.

......I agree....he probably had 1 good movie.....the rest were either bad or he 'lucked out'......as a director....he isn't very good [ imho ].....

Been "just a paycheck" for quite awhile, at least.

I think he thinks he's clever, but his "twists" are lame and predictable from the start and his scripts have (overall) been trash.

This is not the age of "great" directors. We lost some highly skilled people to sex/harassment scandals in the last couple of years and especially with the pandemic it's going to be awhile before talent flows in to fill the gaps. Studios aren't raking in money this year. They are going with tradesmen who get the job done instead of taking risks with artists. We'll have an interesting time up to Q1 of next year as they exhaust what's in the can, and then a load of garbage following.

there will certainly be a load of crap for a few years.

hard to be bothered with a lot of film and TV of late.
So many series we watch one or 2 eps and give up.
MTV killed visual entertainment.

Haven't been to a theater in 5 years.
So little is worth seeing, let alone the compromised "big screen" with poorly installed sound, and crunching popcorn. One our local theaters had an out phase install. Told them twice. What is it about 2 black eyes.?

I think the studio business is riding the same slow death that the record labels have. Greed, incompetence, liars.
Private equity will be the new studio. Distro will be Netflix and Apple.

Still, gotta get from whats available.
Ain't the 40's, 50's, 60's or 70's anymore.

Who designated Scorsese as Ritchie’s contemporary?

Scorsese is 25 years older, he directed his first feature film 28 years earlier, and he’s directed over twice as many films to date.

me.
all 3 are alive.
that's contemporary enough for me.
and why "contemporaries" was in quotes.
you're welcome to call it what you want.
