... I've kinda narrowed it down to either a Bosch, a Kitchen Aid, or a Whirlpool ...

Models I'm looking at: Bosch (still not sure exactly which model, but probably one of the 300, 500, or 800 series-- if anyone has any particular ones they think I should look at, let me know), the Kitchen Aid (probably KDFM404KPS), and the Whirlpool (probably WDT750SAHZ). Edit: one major complication for me is that with corona, I'm basically homebound, and so am pretty much having to buy sight-unseen... I can see from some reviews that I'm not the only person to be in that situation.

Also, if anyone has experience with delivery/installation/haul-away with any of the major 3-4 suppliers (Lowes, Home Depot, Best Buy, Costco), please let me know. I'd probably be inclined to go with Lowes because they're literally a skip and a jump away from me, but I'd be willing to go with whoever can handle the whole thing for the most reasonable price.

(Sucks that I missed the Lowes sale, and virtually nothing is on sale now...)

Word on the street is that large retailers are planning to hold early "holiday" sales in October.

Possibly, October 10th and 26th.

Good to know ... hopefully I can wait that long. (Repairman said that my Whirlpool has a failing motor and that I can continue to use it, but run the risk of water leaking out from underneath-- and in the meantime, it's not going to clean especially well...) And the 26th, looks like that's for Prime Day, but Amazon doesn't sell these, so far as I'm aware...

Big retailers usually hold sales to coincide with Prime Day.

Especially since a Kitchenaid is a Whirlpool with a few extra bells and whistles added, the same as an Acura is a Honda with a slightly nicer grade of leather on the seats.

Thanks guys. I had sorta kinda already eliminated Miele because they're too expensive and also it seems it's harder to find parts for them. Of course I've heard lots of good things about Bosch, but I've also heard that when they do malfunction, it's hard to find parts for them as well.

Another thing maybe someone here can answer: do all of these have completely removable racks? (I often wash oversized items, such that being able to remove all the racks is very helpful.)

And those of you who've used the installation services, have they done absolutely everything from start to finish, or have you had to disconnect the old dishwasher first? (I see some services require that you do the disconnect, otherwise they won't do the install...)

Installers are sub-contrators, so the quality of service varies from area to area. The ones in my area will not connect gas appliances, At my mom's area, they would not connect ice-makers. Both times the excuse was liability .

I had to replace the rubber seal gasket on my Bosch. Part was easy to get, and I installed it myself.

Our installation was full service. They removed old and put in new.

Not sure all three racks come out, but I think the middle one does which gives a lot of volume capacity.

Our Kitchen Aid 3rd (highest up) rack is removable - pop out two track slide things and pull out.
The other 2 racks aren't easily removable…

We like our Bosch, even with the third tray. At times it’s hard to tell if it’s running - it’s that quiet. And no trouble in the first 5 years so far.

For those of you who have / like Boschs, would you please mention which model number(s) you all have? One thing that's giving me pause about the Boschs is that many of the newer models are having complaints that they break down at about the 18 month mark, and that the newer ones are just not up to snuff quality-wise, compared to the older models. This is apparently especially true for the Ascenta series models, where even though Consumer Reports has given them glowing reviews, the user comments are decidedly mixed or even outright negative. For the Boschs specifically, the condensation method of trying also gives me pause, because down here in LA, where the humidity can be extreme, I could imagine condensation dry doesn't work nearly as well as it would somewhere farther north.

I'm getting a Whirlpool. I don't want to have to dry my dishes before I put them up. They are all quiet enough for me. I would have to get a lower end Bosch and I don't like the reviews.

That's the direction I'm currently leaning -- either going for a reasonably priced Whirlpool (maybe $500?) or a higher-end Kitchen Aid (around $1K). The reviews for the Kitchen Aid, in particular, seem to be outstanding across most sites I've checked, EXCEPT for Consumer Reports.
