I am now a meme... Car Repair

Today I replaced a VTEC valve on my son's Honda CRV. And it took perhaps 3 hours. And three blood sacrifices to the gods of car repair. And..

And I sacrificed extended 10mm socket. That slipped out of my hand and is happily riding around in the undercarriage someplace, probably lodged between a plastic shroud and a heat shield.

I expect it will jump onto the road someplace and go on a 10mm socket adventure.

The good news is the dreaded P2467 trouble code has been banished, so the gods have accepted my sacrifices.

I lost a screwdriver that way. Between plastic and front fender. Need to fish it out.

The 10mm socket is the most used and most misplaced socket in the history of motorcycles and automobiles.
A worthy sacrifice.

A little Dukes of Hazard driving will clear out the socket.

I disagree. It's second. First is 13mm = 1/2"

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I lost a 17mm socketin my car, and I expected it to fall out at some point. I have no idea if it did, but it didn't do so in my driveway.

Congrats on the car work, that's a decent turnaround!

There’s a company that sells socket sets that are nothing but 10mm.

How can there not be any memes posted in this thread already?!?!

Though I'm not sure how the person got the car that far apart without a 10mm socket in the processes.

Ha! There's a 10mm somewhere inside my Prius engine compartment after last weekend's front bumper cover replacement. I don't know if all cars are like this these days, but the entire front third of my car underside is covered in plastic shields, held in place with an entirely random assortment of clips and screws.
