Leftover pizza: Fridge? Room Temperature?

I have leftover pizza from lunch that I could eat later this evening. Keep it at room temperature? put it in the fridge? I doubt it is worth freezing for 6 hours...

....if it was cooler.....like normal Fall temperature....probably ok to leave out.....if it was summer, wouldn't leave out.....but then you are always taking a chance at 'room temperature'.......to be safe, put in fridge and just heat up in oven late.r....

Anything with meat or cheese should go in the fridge.

Warm it in a skillet with a little water and cover it. Heat it slowly.

When the fresh pizza is still warm, take 2 slices and smoosh them together, squishy sides facing inside. Refrigerate, then nuke later. This traps the moisture and reduces dryness. Easy to eat w/o a mess, too.

The clock usually starts officially when the pizza goes below 120 F. Sometimes you can use a non-contact infrared thermometer for this if it has a wide enough range.

Reheating is best, imo, using a cast iron pan (oven but for simplicity we all probably use the stove top) and placing a cover on the pan so the cheese melts. You get a cooked (not soggy) bottom and melted cheese in this way.

I don't have a zip lock back or Tupperware/similar container big enough for left over pizza, since that would be half a pizza, if I had any sense.

So, no, there's never any left over pizza, at least longer than a day.

There has been a rare occasion were it was lunch and dinner, the closest I've come to using common sense.

If it's a warm day, the pie goes in the fridge, in the box.

In the past it got nuked, but now it goes into the $40 Panasonic toaster over, heated at 325º for five minutes and then "Keep Warm" at 130º for 20min.

Not an exact science because, well because it's pizza, not a soufflé.

And most often, when I smell it's meaty, tomatoy, cheesy goodness, all bets are off.

But it has to survive the first eating, first.

Followed by a brisk 30min walk to burn it off, I'm good.

Not sure what pizza you have, but we will stack thin pizza in layers to go into the ziplock bag. Or, we have re-usable larger containers with lids we can use. It's harder with deep dish, but day-old deep dish also tastes great (cold or re-heated) as it's more like a casserole.

It’s pizza! Leave it out for a week, scrape off any mold and you’re good, heated or not.
