OWC has long made devices for both Mac and Windows platforms, so it's not surprising -- the tagline says "ADD MORE THUNDERBOLT PORTS TO YOUR THUNDERBOLT 4 WINDOWS PC".

Still and all, the future holds a lot of cards, and we'll see next generation ports on the ARM-based Macs in the coming years.

(BTW, it's spelled < y'all >.)

60W is the initial PD spec with the new Thunderbolt goshenridge chipset. It's not about Apple not supporting Thunderbolt 4 and more about there not being support for Goshenridge TB chipset on Mac yet.

also note that each of the TB ports it add all provide 15W of power out - so can use self powered or bus powered devices, all or mix, on all the ports.

Thunderbolt 4 is an even for PC cause now PCs with 'Thunderbolt 4' actually will have all the features of Thunderbolt 3..... that we already have on our Macs. I hope that makes sense....

I look forward to goshenridge chipset on the Mac. Apple is too vested in Thunderbolt for this not to happen... and when it does...

To be honest - we never expected to be releasing something like this for PC without also having it for Macs.... and that should be a relatively temporary thing in my opinion.

I am tempted to ask if the Apple silicon Macs will have TB4 at intro, but I don't think Larry can say yet.

My understanding is a port can't handle much more than 60 W and still transfer data. While it is an impressive standard over all, it can't be everything to everyone.

Thunderbolt 4 seems like a terrible name. Maybe Thunderbolt 3.1 or Thunderbolt 3+.
