Ice Storm...

Everything here covered in a layer of ice here in North Central Iowa. The winds over night were 30+ mph.

We've lost power at least 4 times and cable tv and internet access is off and on constantly.

Snow is on the way.

1st day of Spring is only 25 days away.
(not that that necessarily means much. Mother Nature appears to scoff calanders. )

Yep - heading our way too

I've got kerosene for back up heat and a small generator too. I charged up all the batteries for flashlights
and have some candles and plenty of food so there's only one thing you can do under these conditions ....

BEER RUN !

I'm a little farther north so we got the snow version. 3 or so inches last night with a forecast of 10-12 by tomorrow. Very windy with lightning and thunder last night!
Stay safe everyone.

Central Arkansas here; milder temps but that means thunderstorms. Big system moving through the area, very very high winds and tornado warnings here and there.

That's our future weather for Monday, further East.
Hopefully it will be blown out and we get the warmer side.

Ice storms are the worst. We get them occasionally here in Atlanta and it just shuts everything down. You hear transformers blowing and limbs breaking and boy do the pine trees suffer. I hope it thaws soon. Maybe you won't have to go into work Monday. At least some good might come of it. grinning smiley

Well, we are experiencing a brief reprieve from the ice storm. About a half inch thick everywhere. They are calling for 5-7" of snow to fall on top of all this ice. It will be a mess.

We are all stocked up on candles, batteries and non-perishables. I am concerned if we lose electricity for an extended period of time. No back up heat.

Well, I feel like I live inside a 7Eleven slushy machine. Ours has been freezing rain for about four hours now but the temp has been hovering just above freezing. It creates just enough water everywhere that the idiots have all decided to go for a drive tonight and we had to dodge them all smiling smiley

I think I just heard thunder snow. I'm afraid to look out the window. We got 7" of snow last night and expecting around 12" tonight. We are in a blizzard warning. I wouldn't mind so much except I have to work this weekend. When you work at a long term care facility you have to go to work.

I have to say though I was impressed with the snow plowing. By the time I got off work the streets were cleaned down to the pavement. It must be the type of equipment they use now days. We would still be digging out 20 years ago.

Wish they would have done my driveway. smiling smiley
