I mentioned this before. It's from our wonderful TV programme Top Gear.

[forums.macresource.com]

Glad to see it has made it to one of the video sites so you lot over there can get to view.

That was beautiful. The only thing that could have been better was if there were a giant ramp at the end that would launch the car into outer space.

Wow. "once I reach this speed, the tires will only last for 50 minutes, but that's ok because the fuel will only last 12 minutes." So many staggaring facts about this car. 16cyl, 9 radiators, top speed sucks in more air in a second than a human does in four days... Amazing. Just amazing.

I thought he said 15 minutes for the tires, and 10 radiators. Still ridiculous.

I can't, in any way, relate to this as an automobile or, actually, as any sort of real object. It's beyond my experience, and fairly beyond my comprehension.

Anyway, I want it in red and silver. :-)

I've just watched the clip from the link above and seen that they unfortunately cut before the bit back in the studio where they have a little chat. I think James says something like he had got so used to the incredible speed that when he came back to where the team were waiting they had to scatter as he didn't realise he was still going at 100mph. Something like that anyway.

Oh and don't worry, Richard Hammond is still driving very fast cars but they thought it would be more fun to let the generally slowest and more cautious presenter go for the maximum.

Oh again...was it just my setup or is that clip showing in squashed format for everyone? Really mucks up the beautiful lines of the car but does make James look much slimmer than he really is.

Thanks, shows my memory was totally wrong apart from knowing he was disorientated due to the high speed.

The video was squished for me on full screen.

Couldn't get a speed sensation from that at all.
All the film cut aways were frustrating.
I absolutely need a bigger screen now. :-)

Just before he said that, my son said "How much gas does he have?"

OK, OK. Mark this day on the MRF official calender of firsts....I, Racer X have just been impressed by a current model car.

There, I said it. And it was almost as painful as I feared.

I was just reading about Scott Storch. He's a hip hop producer who was dating Lil' Kim. He's produced or written for some big names and has some big hits. He's also a member/former member of The Roots. I was reading the lyrics to a song by "Game" (or is it "The Game"?) and he says something about "when Lil' Kim was dating 'Scott'", and so I Googled "Lil' Kim +Scott" and that's how I gained this fascinating knowledge.

I never had one, but I did have a red-tail hawk when I was a kid.

The guy in bro's pick looks like he's out of some B parody movie. But when you've got that kind of money, I guess you can dress as bad as you wannbe.

THAT was an impressive video.

I've liked the look of that car, futuristic with retro styling cues. Reminds me of the old D-Type Jag.

When the narrator said of reaching 253mph "Bugatti says this 850,000 lb. car can do it..." I thought "WTF??!

Then I realized- "D'oh! 850,000£ car..."

That still got a " WTF?!" but it was more like a "wtf".

Procedures... "I like procedures." That was too fsckin' funny!

I can just see somebody in a hemi, or tricked out Integra pulling along side the Veyron at a stop light, gunning the motor...

Insert the Special Key and the Veyron rigs for the jump to hyperspace, and the challenger realizes they've just made a tactical error.

I saw a Car Craft article in the mid 90s about a twin turbo Mustang doing over 200 mph. Over 1000 hp. They blew a silicone cooling hose, and locked up the engine in about 15 seconds though. Given the extra decade of technology, I can see someone doing 250 this time. But that was a one-off.

I'd rather have a McLaren F1. It will do "only" 240mph, but better looking (subjective, yes), can carry two passengers, and has a real pedigree.

The factory drivers have wrecked those F1s when showing them to customers.
