iPhone 6S+ Madness (optical stabilizer)

previous post: Used iPhone Purchase

Per helpful advice received, I'm holding off purchase for a few weeks.
Take 6S+ out of its otterbox and give it & the case a good cleaning/polishing.
Put it on charge for overnight (in 'sleep' mode). And next, the madness begins...

Putting the iphone back in the otter and oops I drop it, 4-feet onto tile floor!
1st time I've ever done that, but no damage not even a scratch.
Get it back in the box, wake it up & all is fine. Let's check the camera again...
and d@mn if it's not working perfectly again.

Ladies & Gentlemen, my iPhone is in a parallel universe dunno smiley

(still going to replace it eventually)

I bought an iPhone XS Max but kept the 6S Plus and stuck a magnet to it as described here [forums.macresource.com]

Just like old TV sets, give it a good whack to "fix it".

Thanks for that reminder pRICE cUBE.
When the shakes begin again, I'll try a piece of magnet tape!

You need to do some trial and error on the placement of the magnet. Also take test images because the magnet may freeze things where the focus plane is askew (part of image focused, other side not in focus on same distance plane).

Got an Otterbox Defender for Baby Buzz's (new) iP4s... then when he felt confident enough to switch cases, he fooled around w/ a few different ones (including a Mophie powered case) until he got an iP6s+ (used, mint condition, shortly after the 7's were released). iP6s+ was nicely cased until kid got new iPXs, at which point I inherited it, supposedly* w/ occasional shakes. I've had it in a Speck Candyshell Grip case, which I've grown to like better than Otterbox's stuff. It's been knocked, and dropped, and plopped, and kicked, etc.. Seems that I beat the shakes out of it without intending to (*or kid mighta faked an excuse to upgrade). Sometimes being old and gimpy pays off, though my iPXr is in a Lander Moab case w/ a lanyard, is kept in a holster attached to my belly bag's strap when not in use, and has led a much more peaceful life. Gotta remember the magnet trick for possible future use, if needed.

My SE 2020 is in an Otterbox Defender in a holster. I added a do-it-yourself lanyard to the holster and clip it to my belt loop. At least a dozen times (including today) I move in such a way that the holster and phone slip off my belt and are caught by the lanyard. I don't imagine it would have broken if it fell and I've always felt it come off my belt but it's nice to have a simple lanyard on the holster.

Don't tell anybody, just keep it as our little secret; but I took a piece of fairly heavy plastic packaging tape and taped the clip shut around the belly bag's strap. Similar problem solved. I realize for belts, that's probably not practical as a daily chore, but just a passing thought. Back in the dumber phone days, I did used to use the belt clip thing, and I searched far and wide to find clips that best fit my belts and that wouldn't come off. I even found a couple that had sharp edges that would dig into my side, but were otherwise perfect, so I filed and sanded the sharp edges down to fix the problem, enabling the use of otherwise perfect clips (until they wore out).
