An oral thermometer is the only option? The vast majority are just fine. Just make sure you have enough probe covers to use with it. Other options include forehead models like the Exergen and Braun thermometers.

Personally, I'd just get a no-touch model like the iHealth units mentioned in the forum and call it done. Both models that people have posted about are dandy. I can vouch for the consistency since I own both and the readings compare well to the oral model, Exergen-style models, Thermoworks Wand and the no-touch models used at physical therapy and doctors offices.

Haven't used a thermometer for 50 or more years.
I suppose getting what is used by most is probably a better choice.
I'll probably use 4x and never again.

We use at least one of our no-touch models at home every morning and I use the one at my office multiple times a day. School requires us to check Little M's temperature before putting her on the school bus in the morning. I check temps of anyone who enters my office or warehouse. So far, no issues. Whew!

At my office and warehouse, we also require everyone to wear masks at all times and use sanitizer upon entry. After that, they are sent to the bathroom to wash their hands. We will bar entry to anyone who fails to comply with out requirements. Fortunately, we get minimal foot traffic and nobody has complained at all.

I've started doing this myself, to and for myself.

I limit my contact with others, and have a very small 'bubble' of friends with whom I don't wear a mask.

After getting an iHealth no-touch, I only used it when I felt a bit off, wondering if... You know...

So I decided to use it everyday to get a running baseline, and note any changes and possible causes.

Sleeping with a fan on Low through out the night drops my temperature 1º.

Some time I'll take my temperature twice a day, just to see if my daily routine (lugging provisions around, checking the Claymore line, etc.) changes anything.

The allays potential COVID paranoia.

And, the iHealth is a lot of fun to use, plus taking a bit of practice to use efficiently.

yea, the broadcast biz is just getting back underway for small scale non-audience production.
They are being careful, if not a bit disorganized.
I got a covid test kit from a company in NC. Just wondered if prod couldn't find one in the fire zones of Calif.

Most are requiring their own sourced PCR test, even if I can supply from the local hospital. Plus at home VN temp check before you leave.
And hall passes for the building.
Most are also giving new masks on site.

But a couple of my assists have dropped out of production coz people on site are being total boneheads.

Hard to believe after 210K. But alas...

The lot I know that went to the NBA in Orlando were under strict quarantine.

Exactly. I have baseline temps for myself, my wife and Little M. Same goes for my office staff. At my office, on top of masks, handwashing and other steps, we also physically distance whenever possible. Pretty easy between a big office and a warehouse. It's uncommon for anyone to be within six or seven feet of each other in general.

Minimal learning curve on the thermometers. Point at forehead a centimeter above and between the eyes. Done. One iHealth just vibrates. The other has a beep but it is incredibly quiet. Both are very consistent. I prefer the PT3 version that is vibrate only. Not a fan of the wand. No more or less accurate, more difficult to use than either iHealth model and _much_ more expensive.

I've got the iHealth P3 from AMZ and I like it a lot.

There was a teeny tiny learning curve.

I turned it on, then put it to (not on) my forehead and got — —.

Rinse, repeat, repeat a dozen times, nada.

Based on something you said in a post, I put it to (not on) my forehead, then pressed the button and got the haptic tap and a reading!

Did it a dozen times and got the same reading right away, no fails.

just as a related aside i had an appointment at an Apple store thursday. they do temperature check with those digital no-touch thermometers before you go in. The associate took my temp and said 'You're good!' and then showed it to me. It read 85.7. I looked at her and said 'No I'm not. I'm dead!"

i guess as long as it's not reading 100.4 they let you in.
