I don't think you can find real N95, at least not for a decent price. I had a few left over from some projects, 2 of them were really old and the rubber band snapped off, the 3rd one is still unopened in the package but that has an exhaust valve, which is not fair game. The mask was initially suppose to protect others (prevent you from spreading the virus), although there is now evidence that the mask will also protect you. So yes, that N95 with mask would protect me but not those around me, so I don't wear it. And I guess the rubber bands would snap off too.
Just get some reputable KN95 instead.

N95 masks are ALL about protecting you. Side benefit, if no vent, is they protect others just like any other mask. Cloth masks? Those are about protecting others and to a lesser extent yourself.

Are you quoting me because you feel that what I said was incorrect?

Without fit testing, there's no guarantee that an N95 produces the seal necessary to achieve its full protection, and it may provide little—if any—more benefit than a lesser mask.

With respect, it's usually pretty easy to test fit with N95's ... there are instructions right on the package (and also on the web from 3M), and usually with well-made N95's, it's easy to tell that the fit is good... it becomes a whole lot harder to breathe.

Even a poorly fitted N95 has to be better than 9x% of the masks people are now wearing. I don't even see this as debatable.

My post below about the Stark’s cloth masks that can filter down to .3 micron may be something you want to look into. [forums.macresource.com]
