Hmmmm, I have an issue w/ our dryer that I noticed last night. It's a natural gas dryer and as of last night I smelled a weird odor. After googling a little bit I found this and this seems like what is going on and the smell is kind of kerosene like.

Last weekend we painted the bedroom w/ Latex Paint and obviously the smell is very mild however being in Michigan it's hard to let the house air out. What I don't get is why would a natural gas dryer smell like kerosene? Does latex paint have Kerosene in it?

No kerosene in the paint, but it does stink. You didn't use some solvent to clean the brushes, right?

The only odor I'd associate w/gas is that sulphur/rotten eggs odor they add to it for safety.

Well, maybe it was from the Mineral Spirits I was using in the other room last night. I didn't clean those rags but obviously the smell was strong. It appears to be vented good and I have a SMOOTH vent and not a flexible vent. Good thing is that it doesn't seem to smell this morning so maybe it was just Mineral Spirits or something in the air or on something we cleaned. It's not a NATURAL GAS smell.

check thee exhaust and filters for clogs

This one caught my eye - what were you using the spirits for and were any other chemicals involved ?
(oil paints, linseed oil, urethane etc ...)

There are a number of finishing products that are known to cause exothermic reaction (giving off heat)
some even resulting in spontaneous combustion. I'm wondering if you are / were smelling a reaction

The clogged dryer vent is s good thing to check too but if it was clogged that bad I'd bet the
clothes weren't getting dry because the humidity wouldn't be getting removed.

Just a small amount of mineral spirits to remove adhesive off of my Donkey Kong Jr. cabinet. Not tons just a little bit on a rag.

This would happen to us every time we painted. My wife would try to get me to call the gas company, the company that made the dryer, etc. The dryer draws in air from the house, so if something like that is smelling up the house, there you go. That tiny bit of mineral spirits will do it, trust me.

However, all the above advice is sound. That kind of cleaning maintenance to the vents should be done regularly.
