Our daughter is researching Wacom Cintiq Pro tablets. She has a shiny new 2020 iMac (Leader!). She's been looking at the new tablets on the Wacom site, on B&H, and refurbs on eBay. Reviews mention dead pixels quite often. She feels that, after spending 2k on a product, there shouldn't be any dead pixels at all. She recently had a bad experience with a Huion tablet where it wouldn't work after her computer had gone to sleep. (This was troubleshooted for weeks--replacing cables, trying on different machines, etc.--to no avail before returning it.)
We really don't want to purchase another product that gives us more trouble. We want something that "just works."
What do you recommend?

I would try out an iPad with an Apple Pencil first. Use Sidecar in Catalina.

iPad Pro 12.9, Apple Pencil, Astropad Luna Display and Astropad Studio.
I use them and feel that together they are better than a Cintiq. Connection either via usb-c or wifi.

Way back when, she used one of their screen-based models (Cintiq, 2013 model). It wasn't her cup of tea; she prefers drawing on the screen-less pad and viewing on her computer screen. (My sons use the screen-based one these days.)

FWIW, she also uses her older iPad Pro (12.9") and Apple Pencil with a drawing app called ProCreate these days. On her computer, she uses ClipStudio Paint (which she tells me frequently goes on sale).
