Got 2 double-din and 1 single-din fold-out screen, all Pioneer. Around $400 to $500+ each.
They can pair up with bluetooth, but not all functions work over it. I plug mine in to get the charge plus all the carplay functions. Music, messages, phone, maps, Siri, etc...
They all have their USB ports in back, so you'll need to plug in a USB extension to bring the USB to the front.

C(-)ris,
I've yet to see a Carplay receiver in a car that requires a lightning adapter. I've used built-in radios in various models from several manufacturers (Mazda, Toyota, and Nissan) and an aftermarket model from JVC. All have USB ports. The JVC model has a front mounted USB port. Minimal setup required. Connect the phone to the appropriate USB port. Carplay comes to the forefront or you press a carplay button. Done.
The thing about Carplay friendly units is they should just work. I don't even use bluetooth when driving my wife's car. No need. Leave the cable connected to the stereo. Connect it to my phone. Done. No muss, no fuss. Carplay just works. The head unit charges the phone. Couldn't be easier.
Although the JVC model in my wife's car is overall nice and works reasonably well, I don't like how the onscreen buttons respond to touch. I'd look at a different brand. My brother has a Sony model in hsi car and loves it. I'd consider a Sony before a JVC based on the unit in his car.
The car audio company I use for aftermarket installations discourages model from Pioneer. Based on his experience, each customer who has one installed in his/her car has issues with it. It's gotten to the point that he discourages purchasing them.

I think the ideal solution is wireless CarPlay and a Qi charger

What is your ultimate goal? Is it to be able to listen to SiriusXM, music off your phone or to also have on screen navigation? If you don't need on screen, does your current headunit have bluetooth? If so, you should be able to stream from the SiriusXM app to your car. I have done so in several rental cars.
If it doesn't have bluetooth, does it have an auxiliary input? There are bluetooth adapters that may work.
That being said, I really like CarPlay. There's pretty much no reason to buy factory nav if you have CarPlay. That is unless you head into areas with limited to no cell service.

I installed the Pioneer myself - just soldered the specific car adapter and the steering wheel control interface into the radio harness. Hardest thing was getting the new unit mounting adjusted right.
Again, if you go to crutch field .com, there's a huge amount of info there to be had. It'll show you which units will fit, what install gear you need, and, if you buy from them, install instructions for your specific application.

And Crutchfield will do a readymade harness for you for like $25. It was totally worth it for my last install in my Promaster van.
The downside is the Metra dash kits currently supplied by Crutchfield are not as high quality as what they used to provide. There's better kits out there if you're willing to find it and pay for it. Scosche is one of the better brands.
