How did your Halloween go?
Posted by: DP

So we had maybe 30 kids. I thought we would have a lot more due to the kids wanting some normalcy. But one Mom told us some of her friends wouldn't let their kids go out due to the pandemic. I'll bet there was some screaming and hollering in those households!

I got out one of my old Mole-Richardson's and my wife constructed this witch figure with it's "arm" supporting the piece of gutter to get the treats to the kids and it worked well. And this batch of kids all piled out of the one SUV!

Our weather was good for Halloween and I wish we would have more kids but my wife, in her infinite wisdom, disagreed with my rosy outlook so we don't have many leftover treats, darn it...

Something different...

I had 5 kids which is normal for my area. I set up a table on my driveway with treat bags. The kids could walk up and take a bag.

Each passing year seems to bring fewer and fewer kids. We kept our lights off and no one came by. Didn't even see any kids in the neighborhood though.

I actually had 3 kids . There has not been any on my street for the last 4 years. Before that it was in cars going to grandparents house . Local mini mart sponsors a trunk or treat at the school most just go there .

zilch, not even the older teens who insist on you paying insurance against eggs.

Our street is gated and we asked the HOA to keep the gate closed this year. So my only trick or treaters were the neighbor kids across the street and then I was done for the night.

That is really how it should be everywhere. Not necessarily gated, but this whole thing where people pile their kids in cars and go drive to another neighborhood rubs me the wrong way. Holidays should be about building community in your own neighborhood.

Plenty of kids, but EVERYONE was wearing a mask.

We simply put candy out on a tray in front.

We walked out dogs - we wore masks - and had a chance to see some of the costumes.

My problem was that there was no way each 'pod' of people were all from the same family, so this is still a potential spreader event from all of the groups getting together.

We'll know in about 7-14 days.

There were large scale explosions/detonations taking place. These were powerful enough to set off lots of car alarms. When did this become a Halloween norm?

Still no trickers or treaters in 20 years or so.

Quiet evening watching Halloween episodes of Family Matters, Roseanne and the movie Hocus Pocus.

Three kids total here so we have a few extra candy bars.

The house where I grew up was on a corner and if Mother saw a station wagon drive up and dump a bunch of kids, she would turn them away telling them to stay in their own neighborhoods.

Our neighborhood did a parade. There are only 4 streets in our neighborhood so they did a big circle. Some folks went through twice. It was a beautiful night, and all the neighbors setup tables along the route. We set out a table with bags of chips and cookies. Neighbor across the street had adult beverages for the parents. We stopped over at his table after the kids went though and chatted with him and some other neighbors for an hour or so. Probably the best halloween we've had.

About 50 -60 kids. I set up a table with ziploc baggies with treats in them. And a speaker playing some tunes (mostly classic rock) and some smart lights that flashed along with the music. And I set up traffic cones as a barrier and sat about 10 feet away, masked, waving at the kids and parents.

One little guy in a stroller was dressed up like Chewbacca, Dad was Han, Mom was Commando Leia. I played the Imperial March for them !
