Knorr offers 'Ultimate Ham Bouillon Base', not easy to find.
Of course, you could always use bacon!

Dennis,

Better Than bouillion products are really good. They're my go-to when I want a cup of broth.

2060mg Sodium in one cube

So 1030mg in one serving.

That's a lot of salt in one cup of anything.

A Quarter Pounder Deluxe contains 1210mg.

Fries vary from unsalted to moderately salted, so I have no idea there.

V8 tomato stuff has 640mg for an 8oz serving and that tastes very salty to me.

I should try the low-sodium variant, as I like V8 except for all the salt.

But I do like salt.

There's nothing wrong with salt unless you're under a doctor's orders to limit your intake of salt.

Back in the mid 90's, the Air Force in their infinite wisdom, decided to ban salt shakers in their dining halls for the young Airmen, and replace it with that fake potassium salt substitute.

This was in direct conflict with the general advice about that garbage, namely that it's only to be consumed with a doctor's recommendation.

The guys in the barracks were seriously ticked off about this, and they started bringing their own real salt with them when they ate.

If you've never worked in a restaurant, you have no idea how much salt they use when they cook your meal...grinning smiley

1/2 cup of good ol' America's favorite canned Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup made right here in the USofA is about 900mg sodium. (just using that as an example).

So 1/2 cup of pork bouillon at about 1000mg sodium sounds about right.

I've used their ham boullion for my ham-and-bean soup and it is very good. Costco sells the full line: ham, beef, chicken and vegetable in LARGE jars. I highly recommend it. I've been using all of them for years, especially the chicken boullion.
