Are cooking strainers with this design likely to Rock side to side?

They don't look very stable. The only ones that do are the All-Clad, which are way to expensive.

We have some like those and we have to hold the handles as we're pouring. If it's a big pot of stuff one holds and the other pours.

I've never thought of that style as standalone strainers. I always either handhold them (usually if washing something) or set them over a bowl (if I want to keep the liquid of what I'm straining). I don't use that style for pasta where I'm going to be dumping a large amount of liquid - I use a different style then.

I have a large version of that strainer.

I don't use it for straining; I use it for sifting ingredients when baking.

They’re not designed to be self-standing like a colander. Of course, they will rock side to side if placed on a flat surface. They’re supposed to sit on the rim of a bowl or pot..

Even sitting on the rim, I figure they will rock. The little loop thing is too narrow. I was hoping someone would vouch that "No, they OK." I guess that's not happening.

I had an older design with two loops and the handle which created a three-point contact with the pot, it was much less likely to rock side to side. A strainer with a wider loop across from the handle may also work better, something like this set - [www.amazon.com].
