Rest in Peace Alex. He was a class act, one of the greats in TV history. I've always loved Jeopardy.

RIP, Mr Trebek. You entertained millions and millions, educating some along the way whether they knew it or not.

Who was an iconic Canadian who entertained millions for decades while promoting knowledge and education?

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Jeez, I think I may have posted something in the Connery thread about Trebek having the last laugh — not by much, as it turns out.

Very sad ... but a truly good person, he's said that how he was on air is pretty much how he really was in person.

Edit: the link that Bo posted to the twitter video ... that's an even shorter clip than the one I saw, where the gentleman said that he learned diction because of Alex Trebek, and Alex himself was welling up after the gentleman's story. What made it especially poignant was the fact that the video is from literally maybe a week or two ago, the guy had Stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was working almost all the way to the end.

A great loss, and from all reports, an intelligent gentleman in an industry filled with lesser folk.

This was amazing to me: His last day taping in the studio was October 29.
