Apple Watch 7.1 is so large that I have resorted to deleting apps by Apple. I have no third party apps and I still can't install it. All that is left for me to delete is alarm functions. My main issue is the bluetooth bug that causes battery drain.

No matter how much I deleted, I couldn't free up enough space to apply the update. In desperation, I unpaired and re-paired my watch and magically gigabytes of free space appeared and I was instantly able to apply the update. This was after hours of troubleshooting. I can't believe that was actually the solution but it worked...

......so it is like us....and our sweatpants....due to 'the COVID 19'....we all can no longer fit in our sweatpants.....

I had the same issue on my Apple Watch 3 a couple of updates ago. I did the un-pair trick and everything went smoothly after that. I've not had any issues with any updates after that.

I’ve had to do that for every update since watch OS 4 Ithink.

Good tips, thanks. My 7.1 update went okay. Was totally jacked before that, at least on my OG SE. Reinstalled iOS 14, that fixed it, battery is what it was pre-Watch and pre-14. Thank goodness.

I had no problem with the 7.1 update, but did have the 'no room' problem with one of the watchOS 6 updates.

That was the only time an install didn't work, but unpairing and repairing worked.
