Damn.... and then some.

OK, new Mini's look promising, but then why is "old style" Intel CPU Mini now so premiumly priced?

Major difference seems to be Intel CPU Mini's can have more, to much more RAM on board.
Are these just "keep the peace" Mini's until the OS matriculates further away from Mac OS 9.2.2?

Sometimes I just don't understand AAPL's marketing.

I'd still go with the Apple Silicon model because the Intel will not have a newer OS at some point sooner than the AS model.

I don't think the old Intel Mini prices changed. They just removed the lowest end Core i3 model and replaced that one with the M1-powered Mini. The Core i5 and i7 model prices are the same.

For those who need to replace now, and also need to have certain apps just work like they did on Intel, I think the only choice is still Intel. I know they talked up Photoshop either being or going native soon, but what about other Pro apps like Premiere? Will that even run on M1 hardware?

Everything will run via Rosetta 2 emulator.

I just meant relative to the new AAPL silicon...
can't figure why the marketing dept would slap relatively premium prices on old silicon....

Probably because they're still higher performing for CPU-demanding, memory intensive tasks which haven't been ported off Intel yet. That's just a guess though.

And they can use 64G RAM, as you mentioned.

I don't see any reason why Apple would drop the prices of those minis, relative to the New Iron Silicon.

I don't know about 'keep the peace', but they do provide a less painful step into a different patch in the Apple garden.

Since the M1 chip contains the RAM, I imagine well see upgrades sometime next year, at least in capacity.
