Guess the Berkshire Hathaway* (Geico's owner) CEO decided he needed the money
more. Prepping to pay higher, corporate taxes maybe?
Well, at least my premium didn't go up for the first time in three years!

*Class A share price currently $351,730.00; down $2190.00 (-0.63%)

I'm sure this never crossed Buffet's mind. They did the earlier 15% "give back" discount, which in my mind was barely a discount.

Still the cheapest game in town here! (I've discussed why before - it has to do with BH being able to overcapitalize GEICO's cash reserves, which lets it offer lower rates than companies who aren't sitting on a mountain of cash.)

I saved over $350 this year by switching from Geico to State Farm

Decided to check on USAA prices yesterday, but the online "let's see if you qualify" questions needed my SSN. I decided that I don't need a quote if they need my SSN while in the "we haven't even met yet" stage.

Still wonder if USAA is a better deal than my current Auto Owners, but guess I won't be finding out.

Obviously your SSN is to do a credit check. Maybe it’s also how they check the databases insurance companies have to track your claims.

Same here in the Mid-Atlantic area.
Half (min.) the price for same coverage from AS, SF, USAA, or Progressive.

What part of the country is this in?

Well, this country refuses to stay home, so there's no longer the actuarial reason to give back.

It's not always who has the cheaper price. If they don't play claims or fight like heck to not pay what they should, you're saving money at the expense of time and headaches. Some carriers are notorious for nickel and diming everything.

Whatever ads and tv commercials you see for insurance companies? Don't use those.
