PC Stick or Mac mini mounted behind the TV is how I would do it. That way you can set more parameters and add images easily.

If your tv will play m4v files, you can do this with Apple's Photos app. Select the photos that you want, go to "Projects" in the left sidebar in Photos and click the plus button. Choose Slideshow > Photos. You should get a new window that will preview the slideshow, let you select music, transition effects, display time, etc. Adjust as you wish. Once done, go to the menu bar>File>Export>Slideshow.
