Even where they have FIOS competition, they just don’t care about competition

yes. you can log into your account and see usage. they also sent alerts at 50/75/90 percent.

Well... we did 1031 GB last month, and 900 the month before... but only 750 so far this month... with 7 days to go.

looks like we have the potential to go over... thankfully we are only here 4 more months -- then I can switch back to ATT and get unlimited. =)

That's why they did it.

Easy money.

Cell providers going unlimited with 5G, cable companies need to rake in the $$ before everyone jumps ship...

Yes they have a tool, but there have been many reports of it not accurately reflecting data usage. Worst case I saw was someone who saw large usage during a period when their house was without power or occupants.

Comcast is just doing it first, this will allow everyone else to soon do the same. It is like when airlines started charging for checked luggage, everyone soon followed suit. With any luck Starlink will be the Southwest Air of IPO's.

Bastiches. Not surprised in the least. Here's hoping Verizon (FiOS) doesn't follow suit any time soon.

It’s the meanness and greed that counts. Bandwidth effectively becomes cheaper every year for ISPs. Compared to other costs, being able expand an IP backbone that ISPs can tap into is like printing money.

That’s because most towns have duopolies, which as a practical matter are no better than monopolies regarding choice.

I find the Comcast "Usage" report meaningless, though, as it only reports the monthly total. I'd like a day by day breakdown, so I can try to figure out what I'm doing/using that might contribute to unusually high numbers. But, of course, that would make it easier for me to not exceed any cap Comcast sets, so why would they allow us to see that.

:-(
