I was just reading that story and getting ready to post.

So, if anyone here is missing a large metal monolith, you might want to check with the Bureau of Land Management's "Lost and Found" department.

On one hand, only 19 years late... and aluminum rather than obsidian.

On the other hand, I can see the screws or rivets with which it is constructed so by definition it isn't a "monolith". Monolithic, yes, but not a monolith.

I would think those are weld spots, but your point is well taken.

What's really weird is that it is in a very remote area. SO remote that they aren't posting the location fearing that people might want to go see it and will require rescue. How the hell did they get it out there? Maybe they built it on the spot with a light framework and lightweight sheet metal. But STILL!!!
