That’s a generic aftermarket cowl hood, aka a reverse hood scoop meant to scavenge trapped air at the base of the windshield. 99.999% of the time the hood scoop doesn’t exist (is blocked off) just a cosmetic style unless you really needed the extra height because of a tall racing intake. Much easier to install a cheap hood than to install actual horsepower.

Interesting. I always thought those were to let air out, not in.

Signal lights on the front indicate it is probably a 79. I owned a 78 and that is not a 78.

I was also gonna guess '79 Monte. I love car trivia!

Does bear a little resemblance to Fords of the period with those fat front turn signal lights, though. Monte Granada indeed.
