Updating a Watch

I’m updating my mom’s iWatch4 to version 7.1. I got through the download part of the install. Everything seemed fine and the watch went through it’s restart, “clock” update with the Apple in the center, all that. Now the watch appears to have updated, and it looks ready to take off the charger and using it as normal BUT the watch app on the phone is still in the “install” mode, saying to not restart it or take it off the charger. It’s been like this for over an hour.

I’m sure that leaving it on the charger and letting the app do it’s thing is the right move, but I’m tired of waiting and I’m afraid to do anything with it. I’m in a bit of a quandary. I guess I just need an idea of how much longer to wait. What say you?

Maybe not a real solution -- but It can take a looooooooooong time.

I knew that if I gave up and asked, it would be done faster. The goal has been achieved. emoticon_love

Thanks all who looked, and thanks jdc for your reply.

My updates are pretty kludgy to be honest. I wonder a lot wtf it's doing. I've picked it up in the middle of updates, etc., but nothing has bricked it yet.

iWatch = Watch to differentiate it from the normal wrist watch.
