How long until we have next get hackintoshes?

Running MacOS on a raspberry pi?

Latest model can have 8 GB RAM.

Won’t be an M1, but if it could be installed, might be fun.

I've booted my RPi4 on this [twisteros.com]

Cute skin but not quite the real deal. This team has put together a pretty sweet distro with some included emulators and skins.

However I was able to run Sheepshaver / MacOS9 on the RPi4, again for fun only.

I asked the same question at work where I am surrounded by software experts. I was told that even if someone manages to get to working, because the RPi does not have the same optimization as M1, I will be slow, so slow that it will not be of any practical use.

I suspect we've gotten further away from it as there's not a large industry creating similar chips at this point. Interesting times.

Yes, it runs fine. It is actually just RaspberryPi OS with a bundle of added skins & packages. I've been running it since June or so, though my use is mostly headless (PiVPN & Homebridge).

They added an easier update mechanism for their added packages in versions subsequent to my install, though the base OS updates with the usual commands.

What do these packages do? I looked at FAQ and it was not obvious to me. In screenshots I saw some Netflix, Hulu and a few other things I never tried on my Raspberry Pi. I see the skins looks like Mac OS, Windows 10, Windows XP, Linux, etc. Is that the gist of it?

So in addition to the skins, they include retropie and dosbox to emulate old x86 games. For Netflix they also bundle in some media codec which allows protected media playback. All these aren’t in the default OS.

We installed this evening. The MacOS skin is excellent. I might use it as my default for the pi.

Only Windows 3.0. I've been forced to live those others at work, I do not need to experience them any more at home...!
