Plex, should I pay for it, or just use free part

I have Plex on my MacBook. I stream some stuff to my Tivo Bolt, which supports Plex. But don't really use it a lot, as I find Plex complicated. I guess I don't like to read.

So if someone uses it, and explains what they do with it, and how easy it is, maybe I will jump in and buy it at the current 20% off.

I have had a lifetime subscription for like 5+ years now. Use it ever day - and it is worth every penny smiling smiley

I have the lifetime, used almost everyday. Server runs on a 2010 MacBook Pro and the archive of movies on a Synology NAS (around 500). We all use it around the house on various tvs and my daughter/dad/brother/sister watch remotely.

I used Plex for a number of years, but found I was getting too many issues from things I'd ripped.
I switched to Emby last year and I've had no issues.
Emby also includes remote access for nada.
Their support is waaaaay better, but I'm sure in time Emby will lose that advantage as Plex did over time.
Emby also has a DVR function like Plex that I think is a paid add-on.
I don't use coz there is little OTA that I care about.
