I use WhatsApp on iPhone to keep in touch with several friends, who don't hav iPhones or who don't know how to use Zoom.

I wanted to have a chat with 3 of them so all 4 of us have a group and wanted to call. I wanted to use the laptop to see them on the bigger screen, but I just installed WhatApp on my aging MacBook pro and I discovered it does not have the call feature... does it?

Then I said no problem, I can install it on iPad and use the larger screen. So there is no WhatsApp for iPad??? WTF? there are several messenger Apps for WhatsApp, they appear to be some soft or work around but they are not the real WhatsApp. Maybe I missed something?

You should be able to install the phone version and "double" the size. You may need to adjust your search settings to show the phone version. Not all app makers bother with iPad version. For instance, Instagram still doesn't have an iPad version.

Although it occurred to me that maybe Whatsapp is tied to your phone number somehow (I don't use it)?

yes, you can probably work around. there is a desktop version, I just installed in on my MBP and you scan a Qr code to activate it so it shows the same chats as your iPhone, but I don't see a calling option on MacBook version.

Mac version does not make voice/video calls.
