'Your package may be lost'

Once again, AMZ fails to deliver.

And once again, they extend the delivery time by one day, then on the day of scheduled delivery, it's a no show, and i get the 'We lost it' page when I inquire WMS?!

Actually, their success rate is pretty high, though trails the USPS rate of 0 losses in my lifetime.

And once again, I can't order what was lost, because it's OOS, who knows when, etc.

I didn't even bother for some vig along with the refund.

So I spun the cylinder and placed another order.

I had two or three gifts that fell into that black hole this year. One of them, for my nephew, disappeared into a Los Angeles Post Office on December 14, and didn't reemerge until it was delivered last Saturday. No change in tracking, it just landed on his doorstep.

welcome to the club. I'm wondering at what point we will learn the percentage of increases in lost packages. the USPS has been particularly bad. the private services have been worse than usual, but still much better than USPS.

I'm pretty convinced that the "your package may be lost" message translates into either

"The Amazon driver decided to keep your package for him/herself"

or

"The USPS carrier either lost your package or decided to keep your package for him/herself"

I have four packages that are "Delivery Unknown", one of which was mailed December 9th. The ones mailed after Christmas are straggling in veeerrrrry slooooowly but I'm beginning to fear that usps will never find the earlier packages at this point. It's going to be one incredibly late Christmas for me this year.

We lose perhaps 1-2%. Eh. Lots of time it seems to be their third party sellers, and they disappeared. Probably drop ship from China type people.

Just a theory, but with all the mechanization involved I believe shipping
labels are either getting mangled or otherwise rendered unreadable.
Another variant, especially on eBay is sellers cutting corners.
ie, shipping items in plain letter envelopes instead of padded mailers.
I've ordered 75ohm baluns, 1 from GA & 1 from CA and neither arrived
after waiting over a month. Got refunds and when asked both sellers
claimed they used 'standard mail'.

otoh, a recent order from OWC was shipped UPS & then local delivery by
USPS. Took all of two days from IL to DE.

Had two packages and a magazine that took the loooooooong way around the block, but they eventually made it a week or three late.

AMZ advised 'the package may be delivered later' but that I was eligible for a refund now, so I did so.

Since the package is going to an AMZ locker, there's no hope for a belated XMAS to me, double delivery.

But I agree about AMZ's code use of 'package may be lost', because it's them notifying me it may be lost, instead of the other way 'round.

All of my Christmas gifts via USPS were weeks late despite Priority. They took over a month to arrive, domestic US. I didn’t panic when one I shipped on 12/7 never updated tracking outside my local PO on 12/7. Now they say it must be lost. That one was original art I did for a baby who’s coming, and various financially worthless but personally meaningful one of a kind items for my friend. She got no Christmas gift or even a card from me, and I cannot replace any of it.

They say I should file a missing package claim, but after 2 hours on hold with them, I had to give up... the tracking number shows invalid when I try to submit such a claim. If I track it, it still works, albeit it shows it when it was last seen over a month ago.

Not Happy. Mourning the loss of my stuff, my friend's disappointment, and now the extra work I need to do to unclear benefit.
