Do *any* states allow buying lottery tickets online? If so, I never knew.

I will say that as I passed a scratch off lottery ticket dispenser at the grocery store a couple days ago, I had a passing thought to buy one for a buck to give to my daughter, but I didn't have any cash (as is typically the case). They need to make those machines accept Apple Pay (and credit cards). Maybe they already do, but I've not noticed. I only buy a scratch off once or twice a year at most (as a stocking stuffer, for example).

Yup, some states do allow buying tickets online. Example from the MegaMillions website:

"If you are a resident of Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania or Virginia, you may buy Mega Millions tickets online by registering with the lotteries of those states. You may also purchase subscriptions for Mega Millions online in New York. You must be residents of these states to participate in these purchase options. Details may be found on those lotteries' websites (see Where to Play)."

... of course, as a resident of my particular state, I am screwed.

Michigan does. I'm not sure exactly for how long it's been available, but it's been at least a year or two. You can buy draw games (like Powerball) and they have a bunch of online games you can play/buy. Obviously, they don't sell scratch tickets online.

Virginia allows single plays AND subscription online. I’ve been subscribing for both powerball and mega million twice a week for the last two years. Just throwing my money away. I win two or four dollars every month or so.
