The One-Day Sickness

These are viruses, right? Gone too quick to be prevented.

Wake up, soon require an unexpected visit to bathroom of a more liquid nature than is normal. 2 hrs later I'm in the first meeting wondering where this is going. A little fuzzy. Having a bit of yogurt was no problem.

The next meeting, immediately after, and halfway through I'm thisclose from texting in the chat window that I need to step away, even though I didn't know what for! Could barely look at the screen and knowing, "They can tell I'm distracted, looking around the room." Thankfully this was not a day for sending out contracts.

I'm whining to my sister via text and she's all, "OMG can you smell? Can you breathe?" Yes and yes.

3rd meeting, immediately after (each was an hour) and thankfully my webcam did not need to be on because my head was down.

A bit of lunch and a lot of sitting in a side chair nearby, I had one more meeting at 2pm that went much better. The rest of the day and evening was spent maintaining the mild fever I'd been having since probably 9am.

Went to bed early and it took a while to adjust my internal temp. I awoke at 4:30 because one of the dang kids was up doing who the hell knows what. "Are you OK," I asked. Yes. And so was I.

I KICKED ITS ASS. (Or rather, it left me.)

The 24-hour flu is actually a condition called gastroenteritis. Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach and intestines, which leads to symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.

Although gastroenteritis can be caused by viral, bacterial, or parasitic infections, viral gastroenteritis is typically responsible for many cases of 24-hour flu. Despite the “24-hour” moniker, viral gastroenteritis symptoms can last between 24 and 72 hours.

Passed on like any other virus. Have you been wearing a mask, avoiding close physical contact or extended contact in the same enclosed space, and washing hands frequently?

2021 chalks one up for the good guys!

I learned yesterday that I've had another confirmed COVID exposure through a meeting with a client who subsequently became sick. Second time since late November. I'm feeling well and have been working in isolation at home since the November incident, so I'm going to forego testing this time. The exposure was nine days ago, so I'm almost at the far end of the recommended isolation period anyway.

It is what it is.

You mean that's not the name of some chic French restaurant?

Yeah all that applies, except for being near the 3 people I live with and none of them got sick before or after.

Aren't you aware that it's a hoax?

Get that all the time, probably 2 or 3 times per year, but im just susceptible to having weak gut bacteria. Yes, your stomach affects all your other systems, and can make you feel dizzy to boot.

Hurts like a bastid...

The dizzy is low blood pressure probably due to dehydration.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

4:30 AM?
Sounds like the heebie-jeebies....

If it had been the sheebie-jeebies, you would have whined to your co-workers in addition to sis, the cramps would've been worse (at least in your mind), ya woulda made the spouse deal w/ the offspring, and you'd try and convince everyone you still had it the next day.

Glad you're feeling better.

That's my dad's problem, a side effect of being 86. Fell in the shower the other day, he told me 4 days later ... He never feels dehydrated, because old people never feel dehydrated.

Unfortunately, "low" blood pressure isn't my concern. That reminds me, I need to find a cardiologist "one of these days."

Two words: Food Poisoning

Can come on fast, and be gone quickly. It is not contagious; meaning not caught from nor spread to others.

Night before, half a frozen pizza (cooked)
Next evening, 2 more slices
Next mid-morning, final 2 slices

Lack of diversity aside ... it wasn't the pizza.
