I just ate a "peppermint flavored" candy cane I bought today on clearance.
It tastes like sugar.
The full dozen will probably be gone by this evening.

I had to put on clothes that weren’t pajamas for the first time in a while, and I have to admit I liked it.

I have a Christmas bush that I made from about 30 white pine saplings that I didn’t want anyway. They are bound to an armature of sticks and fishing line. It’s lasted super well, looked great, is over 6’ tall, and has not shed a single needle in over a month! I don’t know when we’ll get around to taking it down. It was a bit of a pain to make, but the only real drawbacks are that it doesn’t hold as many ornaments as a regular tree (not nearly as bad as a white pine tree, though) and it’s in a 5 gallon bucket to hold all of the "stems". It looks fine, since it’s covered by a big skirt. I have not had to add water at all.

I went this route because our usual tree farm didn’t open this year, and others were crowded or sold out early, but I think I will do this again and again until the Christmas trees I’m going to raise are ready. Why I didn’t think of these ideas years ago, I’ll never know (making my own and growing my own).

I haven't seen that in years.

For the first time, this year we bought an artificial tree for Christmas. And it had nothing to do with COVID, as we've been thinking about it for the past couple of years. And we lucked out. It was great!

Same here, bought on clearance last year, guess my constant whining about having to take Claritin while it was in the house worked. The tree looked nice, easy up easy store, no needles in the carpet for two months after.

At this moment, I'm following a live auction on my iPhone, the Bills/Ravens game on the TV, while browsing MRF on my laptop. I'd play the radio, too, but it does not have a color screen.

Christmas tree is still up and not coming down yet.

I believe very firmly that Christmas trees should remain up at least through the end of January, and longer if the season is gloomy and the house needs cheer. And isn't Christmas not officially over until Candlemas (02 Feb)?

sad smiley I didn't have a tree this year. But there are colored lights next to my iMac, and they look cheerful!

In spite of being a former river guide, have never been able to step in the same river twice.

Plus, after all these years, still can’t surrey down.

Twelfth Night, Jan 6th.

...Because that's the last day when my city will do curbside pickup of a tree.

2 nights ago I cheated on my wife and got said adulteress pregnant ...

in my dream.

And the only thing I could say in my defense was, “I didn’t think she would kiss me.” As if that’s a completely reasonable excuse to having hot, baby making sex with someone other than my wife.

Everything happened within 2 hours. 4:15-6:15am. That fetus grew very fast.
