Replacing an Airport Extreme with Google Wifi

Got a Google Wifi here (3 unit mesh) to replace my lagging Airport Extreme 5th gen.

Would it be best to create a new network name and re-connect all of our devices to that, rather than use the same name?

WPA/WPA2 Personal is what's being reported from the Wifi menu on my Macbook Pro.

Thanks... hope this fixes our wireless performance issues (old brick & plaster home)

Your Macs will see it as a different network even with the same name.

This might help:

When I retired my Time Capsule in November and replaced it with a TP-Link mesh system, I set up the network with the same name and password I used with the Time Capsule. Some devices never blinked and automatically connected to the new network. On others I had to join the network anew.

YMMV.

I just switched from my AirPort Extreme to Linksys AC2200 and gave it the same name and pw and all my devices connected automagically.

Thanks - maybe I'll try the same name and password and see what works and what doesn't. Can't hurt, right?
