It's even more fun when one's snowblower can't handle the wet heavy snow that is falling. But I bet being up here in the hills of western MA, a 1000 feet higher than Boston, I will get less snow than they will.

Philly TV stations reporting on the supermarket insanity happening
on Saturday; wiping out stocks of milk, bread, TP, snack cakes, ice melt,
snow shovels, etc.

I'm sure the folks in more northern climes get a chuckle out of this behavior!

I’m scared because I’m supposed to get my second dose of vaccine on Tuesday. I really need that not to be rescheduled... I don’t have another time I can go that week, even if I had a 4WD to get there (only available that day, my other half's day off). It’ll be a logistical nightmare to move hundreds of people's second dose....

Spray the impeller and chute with WD40 or Pam cooking spray. It should help, but whether or not it will be enough is unknown. I saw a video of a guy that ceramic coated the guts of his snowblower. It made a noticeable difference in performance. Not sure how often one would need to reapply the coating for this manner of use.

The 4 inches or so of snow on the last storm was so light and fluffy that I shoveled for the exercise, leaving the snow blower in the garage.
We will see what I get get this time. I am in the lowest point of the Pioneer Valley, projections say 4-6 in Greenfield, while surrounding areas go up to 12+ inches.

Even in MN, 10+ inch snowfall will create some additional grocery shopping etc.

But no additional rush of snow shovels unless it’s very early in the season.

Do you have a single or two stage snowblower? If the former, there's only so much you can do. My two stage Ariens will throw wet snow probably 30 to 40 ft if I aim the deflector right.

The weather folks are beginning to retreat (as usual). Better bets are on 6"-8" here in NYC.

It will probably be more north and west of NYC area.

It's a two-stage and it's much better than our older underpowered two-stage. It's still okay with moderately wet snow in that it still moves it out of the way, but the really slushly stuff is still a bit of a challenge.

no, no, no; never 'WD40'. It is a solvent {think kerosense} and very
flammable. It's not good for the machine nor the environment.
(It's also not healthy to breathe its fumes.)

Stick with 'PAM' type sprays or food grade silicone spray.
With silicone, spray let dry then spray another coat & let it dry.

After use you can let the impeller & chute dry then re-apply silicone.
