Shameless plug for Visible (Verizon carrier)

They're an MVNO owned by Verizon.

And I know some of you also use Visible.

They've expanded their "Party Pay," which allows strangers to group together to save $5 or more a month. So if you were thinking of signing up but are otherwise friendless or don't have a family member on Visible (it's not a "family plan", each person retains their own account) let one us know, you know?

My pay off of my iPhone X is now complete, with Verizon. I pay about $42.00/mo with discounts, but my discounts may be going away soon, so it might be back up to $50 or so.
Is it pretty easy to switch from regular Verizon to Visible?
Looks like it is $25/month
Would I need a new SIM?

fwiw I switched to RedPocket and have been happy. I think I'm paying about $20/month (prepaid for the year) for 10GB data, unlimited text and voice.

I think I had my daughter with RP a long time ago. I haven't looked at them in a long time. I have to stay with Verizon as the underlying provider. I still have my husband and mom on Page Plus, but the Visible deal sounds pretty interesting.

i think you need a new SIM since the carrier "company name" is different. (You can ask them, I just assumed I needed one and bought it.) Good question. Find out for us?

Visible is $40; each person you link with drops that $5 down to a minimum of $25. After that, the new wrinkle is that they give you a $5 referral.

I found it easy to switch. They have you download their app, reboot the phone after you swap the SIM. Coming from VZN, you'll need to input your number and Verizon account password into Visible's site for them to port you. I did not need my account PIN. Verizon's site says they have a separate PIN for when people port numbers away from them but I didn't need it either.

So far I haven't noticed any service level changes out here in the boonies.

Visible also has a $20 rebate through Rakutan.

I'm in a drawn out process of switching to them. I want to get a 12 Mini and they have a good deal (essential half off), but you have to switch from certain carriers and my Puretalk isn't one. I am switching to Spectrum for a month, porting my number and keeping my current phone. Then I'll switch to Visible, get the new phone and all the rebates.

This may not be important to most of you. However, if you travel internationally, many of these MVNO's have limited to no international service or at an exorbitant rate.

The other potential issue is that network priority is below that of the primary network users. Again, it may not be an issue or concern for most, but others might be concerned.

Both of these are issues concern me, more so the prioritization issue. Estimates are that the number of full time residents in this tourism based town has risen from 25% full time residents to 50-60% full time residents. With vacation rentals we have 100% occupancy just about every weekend. Add in the van lifers camping all over the place since lockdowns started and we are swamped with people. Many with kids are using Verizon LTE to homeschool via iPads or tethered chrome books. We get major slow downs and connection issues all of the time.

Verizon's current infrastructure cannot handle the load.

My family has used Total Wireless now for four years. Verizon service. $100/mo for four lines, unlimited data. It's hard to beat.

"Would I need a new SIM?"

Maybe. Would the new phone's SIM be the same Form Factor as your current phone?

MicroSims have been the standard for years now so, you're probably good on that.

Will Verizon allow you to unlock your phone. If yes, you can probably PORT your old number over to your new phone (there may be an "activation fee"). I've been with Visible for about 18 months. I've been very happy with Visible (I pay $25 / month with Party Pay).

Two possible gotchas: 1:Visible MUST run on Verizon towers. There is NO roaming on the towers of other carriers (usually not a problem). 2: There are NO stores or even the ability to SPEAK with ANY Visible people. ALL communication is via online chat or email.

Finally, Visible offers CASH BACK on some of of the phones they sell (I got $150 rebate even though I bought my iPhone 11 ProMax at an Apple Store.
