Time Lapse Videos: how to change the settings?

it appears that iPhone only makes 20-40 second clips regardless of how long you record. I found some pages that say you need to install other Apps to change the settings. Why didn't Apple add this feature in settings:

I want to record all night to see what's happening in my backyard and 20 second just doesn't cut it. I have only one frame that shows the deer, that's it. I can see footprints in the snow so I know there is a lot of activity. I'd like an 8 minute video that shows what happens in 8 hours, no a 20 second clip for 8 hours.

Come on Apple.

Have you tried a different app? I have NOT tried these...

Not cheap, but there are Game Cameras made for this. Many shoot in IR for night shots.

I did try iMotion and OSnap! and I am not quite sure this is what I want

I was about to try Hyperlapse when I saw how much data they harvest. It's an Instagram App, which belong to Facebook. Makes sense. I am going to try Skyflow, I didn't see it before. Thanks
