If you or your wife are positive, see if there’s a monoclonal antibody treatment near you [protect-public.hhs.gov]. It’s best given within 10 days of symptoms and has been saving lives.
Hopefully neither of you have it.

I hope those that do have it all end up with mild cases.
I'm curious though, mainly to those who have replied, for the people who are sick, why do we want them to not have it? It seems like if they're mildly sick, have had it for a week, that it would be better for them to have it than to not. While it won't offer perpetual immunity, will give a sense of closure. If you're sick, wouldn't you want it to have been covid, rather than still not know how your body is going to respond if/when you get it?
I say that as my family has had it, and it brought a lot of relief after they had it.

You are right that if you could know it was a gentle case, getting it behind you is a good thing. The problem is that for lots of the cases, the really bad symptoms start after 10 days. And then the hill can be steep.
And then there is the fraction of cases with long term effects. It is a small number but given 25m cases in the US there are lots of folks with serious issues (from cognitive to cardiovascular) many months later.

Cbelt, wishing you a quick and routine cold outcome.
I went to the doc for a routine visit last week, I told him about being sick the prior week and the fever, etc. He was sure it was the rona. He sent me for a test which came back negative. I was mildly disappointed that I didn't get a positive for the reasons you say. I sort of knew it wasn't based on my symptoms, so my only satisfaction was being correct In that assumption.

As someone who has had two patients die this week alone from Covid-19 (one of whom got it, along with her husband, from their daughter), I do not wish it upon anyone, mild case or not. So, using MAVIC's logic, you get a mild case. So mild, in fact that you don't really think anything of the symptoms you may or may not have. Because your guard is not up, you end up passing it on to someone else who may have worse symptoms than you. Or they may have mild symptoms as well but then pass it along to their elderly parent or grandparent.
This is not the time to be letting our guard down!! Get vaccinated when you can. Continue to wear a mask. Continue to socially distance.
Best of luck, Cbelt3. I hope that you and the family are negative and do well. I believe you and your wife qualify for the vaccine. Get it ASAP.

Fine if everyone has mild cases, and don't spread the virus to many others. Not so fine if there are complications, comorbities, and so on. Also no guarantee you won't get it again or have problems related to the virus pop up days or weeks later. Depending on other issues a person infected can still be spreading the virus well after they "had it".

Woah, how did you jump to that conclusion? Where did I say people shouldn't quarantine while they have it (or waiting for a test to get back)? Did I say they shouldn't get tested? I never said anything like that or suggested anything that you said.
THIS is what I was basing my comments on. These were reasons why we don't want people to contract Covid-19. We don't know who is going to do fine and who is going to die (and everything in between). I've had too many patients and friends (of all ages) die unnecessarily over the last year from this.Quote

Yes, if a person doesn't quarantine and follow the guidelines, they can still spread it even if mild. I didn't say anyone should do that.

When I had it, the latest research showed you would be immune for at least three months. As of January, the research is showing immunity for at least eight months. And for those who do it get it again, the symptoms have been mild - some cases haven't even had symptoms.

It kind of explains why I’ve been so tired and unmotivated for the last week.
If that's the case, then I've had it for the last couple of years...

I hope you DO get it, but it so mild you wouldn't even know! No symptoms, side effects or anything! Then you won't have to worry about getting it any more!
My wife got it and her only symptom was loss of taste & smell. 6 weeks later she is just getting her smell and taste back.
Good luck!
