After battling our local schools for years, this surprises me not.

Ended up with a private school. Much happier, way less stress.

hire journalists, or amateur bloggers.

Uncaring and insensitive though they were, $1 says the "baby-sitters" comment was likely spot-on.

Where I live we have the opposite problem of not having board members with any interest whatsoever in why parents may want their kids kept home and reliably safe.

So there's obviously a balance that needs to be met, hopefully with education coming first and whatever-parents-may-want-this-week a distant second.

Harder to do than it seems, in cases where both the board and parents being unqualified to know what's best for kids.

When I homeschooled my son I was always amazed by conventional school parents I overheard at parks who couldn't wait for school to start up again because they found it annoying to have their kids around.

When I homeschooled my son I was always amazed by conventional school parents I overheard at parks who couldn't wait for school to start up again because they found it annoying to have their kids around.

When they canceled school last year 3rd week of March, parents on the school district's FB page about lost their minds. And then for this school year the board blocked the homeschooled kids from sports, because living out in isolation we'd somehow be more likely to infect others! Just bizarre "logic."

Oh puh-leeze.

'mike' was used as a short form for microphone for many years before it became 'mic'.

So the convention has changed over time, but it hardly merits the faux outrage shown here.

But 'hot Mike' would have been pretty comical.

That's an awesome commercial!

We love our kids, but they were absolutely better off in our view going to a good learning environment where social skills were also developed.

Even with my wife is a professional teacher, we have good public schools - we did home-schooling at night and weekends, the day was for professional educators.

And the 'hot mike' comment made me laugh, bad journalism or no!
