Why do some DVD's have multiple tv episodes in one big file?

I'm looking at a DVD that I purchased and there are six "titles" on it like this:
Title 1: All tv episodes on disc in one file
Title 2: Episode 1
Title 3: Episode 2
Title 4: Episode 3
Title 5: Episode 4
Title 6: All tv episodes on disc in one file (identical to the first title in size and time)

It doesn't matter as I can grab the content I want but I'm curious why they would do this. BTW, this is a 2011 DVD if that makes any difference.

Ukulele music I couldn't find anywhere else.
I’ve added some recipes and spiritual thoughts as well.

I once had a dentist who played Hogan’s Heros episodes all day long in the work area. It’s easier to set up repeat for one file than for individuals played in sequence.

How is that possible? I thought that the maximum size of a VOB file was 1.07 GB.

Yeah but .vob files are not titles. A title can be several stitched together, which is why a movie can look like one title. It’s up to the player to read them and sync playback.

Titles 1 and 6 are probably the same thing. The duplication is most likely part of a copy-protection scheme.

You're likely to find that titles 2-5 are not exactly the same as the episodes in Title 1. They may have additional footage or audio commentary from the creative team.

That all makes sense. Thanks for explaining it to me.

Titles 1 and 6 are for the "Play All" selection from the menu. It just links to the individual episodes.

Yep. DVD players are script players basically. The script they read is the correct one, whereas Handbrake may “read” (and assemble) a wrong one created to throw off the scent.
