I like the standard type right now. I can't STAND seasoned fries! I always think they're trying to hide something! eye twitch smiley

Back when there were Nathan's stores, their thick crinkle cut fries were GREAT (I also like Nathan's hot dogs). These days, a good thick cut crinkle French fry would still be at the top of my list.

I do like seasoned curly fries too. yum smiley

  1. Air fried crinkle cut
  2. Air fried 'tater tots', but are they "fries"?

I can't STAND seasoned fries! I always think they're trying to hide something!

I'm voluntarily limiting fried foods, even though I LOVE it. Restaurant work has shown me how much fat is absorbed into the fried foods.

I have been able to make non fried versions taste good, either baked, grilled or air fried.

Fried in duck or goose fat, sprinkled with truffle salt.

Or any dress potato fried in fresh oil, dipped in ketchup.

I like shoestring. But every now and then, battered wedges are a nice alternative.

Hmm. For fast-food, that would be McDonalds and Five Guys, with the shoestrings at Steak 'n Shake included so long as you don't dawdle, they get cold faster.

Steak fries, if done right, can be really good.

All of them? I enjoy the variety of different fries you can get with fast food, from the freezer section, or make home made.

My least favorite is the fries from In N Out. They are "fresh" but always taste starchy to me.

Almost any fries will be happily consumed, McD’s, 5guys... Chick-fil-A’s, there’s always too much waiting in line.
That said, I’ve been cutting one russet potato in 1/2” slices, brush w/peanut or olive oil, and salt...straight to the grill w/the fancy quarter turn before flipping... around 4min. per move.
These are THE BEST fries evah!! ...... (ymmv)

I just made some like this recently, with store bought duck fat. Yummy, although not ambrosia.

For unhealthy type: the crosscut CFA or seasoned curly, as everyone else has mentioned.

For healthy: baked (not fried) steak fries can be just delicious, seasoned with olive oil, lemon pepper, and just a touch of salt. [salimaskitchen.com]

Anyone else here tried Taco Bell's new nacho fries?

I dunno that they count. They taste too good. They're probably not real.

McDonald's fries are my favorite.

There's a diner that's a ways away, but not too much, that serves huge fries that are very close to McDonald's in taste, and I like those a lot too.

A longer ride, Chick-Fil-A's waffle fries are a treat, and would be just behind the diner fries.

I like Jaques' seasoned curly fries from time to time.

I just say No to In-n-Out's fries, even Animal Style or Well Done, not a fan.

For me, a good french fry has to be slightly crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside.

Shoestring fries may as will be skinny potato chips.

One of my favorites is due to the toppings. I don't get them often but there is a Mexican restaurant here in Vegas but it is originally from San Diego called Roberto's. They make Carne Asada Fries. It is all the toppings of their Carne Asada Nachos (carne asada, guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream) but on top of an order of french fries. One order is too much for me so I will split it with my wife or one of the kids. Yum!!

Can't stand crinkled or curly fries. I only like "real" fries, no breading or seasoning. By real fries, I mean ones like 5 Guys, or BurgerFi make. Fry them in peanut oil and sprinkle a little salt on them. Some people also call them "boardwalk" fries cuz of all the places at the beach that would make them that way. Best were at a place called "Gus and Gus" in Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Chick FilA Waffle fries.... I love the Crispy Edges.

When I get other fries, I tend to bite off the crispy ends and throw the rest away!
