I am on their site, and as you go down a search, you see something, and then see that it has been 9 months ago, that it was put up, or in some cases year +. Is that the way the site works?

Apparently they rely on their users to delete or mark their posting as sold...

Mercari is the same way, actually. On the one hand, as a seller, it's nice to not have to "renew" and "repost" as I have to on Craigslist. I've had one listing on Mercari for 6 months now.

But, as a buyer, it can be confusing, because you wonder if the item is really available or not, and I've hesitated to contact sellers because I assume the listing is just old and forgotten.

Yes, this is a frustrating 'feature' of OfferUp which is, otherwise, a really nice alternative to Craigslist

In fact, I just sold my 2018 Mac mini on OfferUp yesterday (I had cross posted on Craigslist but hadn't received any inquiries)
